Never impedes the development of roots
Mapito is a medium for growing plants.
It is a special mixture of rockwool and PU flakes that provides excellent moisture holding and proper drainage. It has the absorption capability of rockwool and the drainage provided by pu flakes. It is also compaction resistant which assures good root growth eventually leading to larger plants.
PU are polyurethane flakes. This material is very similar to foam, but designed for the horticultural and gardening industry. It adds structure to mapito and provides a lighter medium for increased oxygen absorption.

Glad that I switched to Mapito this year. No more pests living in my soil, the only down fall is that this also eliminates the micro organisms living in the soil (I believe). I like to add a top layer of mulch but the material already retains moisture and allows oxygen flow to the roots itself. You can either soak the foam in nutrients or just add it like you would soil. It may seem expensive but considering that you can re-use the foam and the more you use it the better, it’s definatly worth the price.
